FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Kacie Ehinger and the Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball program have chosen Jordan Chessar, Kate Mihacevich and Elizabeth Price as the captains of the 2024 volleyball team.
Chessar, a senior, has made an impact both on and off the court throughout her NSU career. “Jordan is the ultimate leader and highly respected on our team. As a second year captain, she is the person that everyone looks up to as an example of the program,” said Ehinger. “She goes about everything she does in the right way, and does whatever is asked of her by the staff and her teammates and is someone that the team feels comfortable with going to for anything.” Chessar has appeared in 226 sets during her Sharks career, registering 227 kills, 49 service aces, and 110 blocks. Chessar’s set career-highs in 2022, totaling 187 kills, 30 service aces, 86 blocks and recorded 265 points.
Mihacevich, a senior, has been one of the offensive standouts for the Sharks under Coach Ehinger’s tutelage. Since 2022, Mihacevich has recorded 640 kills, 68 service aces, 66 blocks, and 742 points. “Kate being voted a captain for the second straight year is no surprise; she is such a competitor and truly leads by example,” added Ehinger. “She is someone that the team knows will work hard every single day and that they can count on to push them to be the best version of themselves.”
Price, a graduate student, has found herself as a productive player all over the court for the Sharks, starring as an outside hitter before transitioning to libero during the 2023 season. In her career, Price has totaled 540 kills, 100 assists, 39 service aces, 717 digs, 65 blocks and 617.5 points. “I’m so excited for that the team voted Elizabeth a captain. She works extremely hard and holds high standards for herself and the team. She is a firm and steady voice in the gym, which is just what we need in this position,” continued Ehinger. The coaching staff has noticed, and I’m glad the team recognized, her investment and growth, not only in herself, but for this program throughout her career.”
