Volleyball – NSU Sweeps NGU at Lee Invitational

CLEVELAND, TN. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team finished play at the Lee Invitational on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the North Greenville Trailblazers 3-0 for the Shark’s sixth three-set victory through 10 matches. The 9-1 start is NSU’s best under Head Coach Kacie Ehinger and the best mark after 10 games since starting 10-0 in 2021.

How it Happened
  • Following back-to-back kills from Olivia Aniol and Brittany Landrum, the Sharks led 9-5 over the Trailblazers in the first set. 
  • Kate Mihacevich sparked a 4-1 run, extending the NSU advantage to 13-7.
  • A kill from Gabrielle Spankus, followed by a service ace from Aniol, gave Nova Southeastern a 21-13 lead over NGU.
  • Mihacevich tallied the final two points of the set for the Sharks, tallying a kill and closing the 25-16 set win with a service ace. 
  • Aniol recorded two straight kills for the Sharks, giving NSU a 7-6 lead in the second set. 
  • A kill from Mihacevich started an 11-2 rally for Nova Southeastern, as the Sharks took a commanding 19-10 lead in the frame. 
  • During the rally, Mihacevich, Landrum, Taylor Stockman, and Elizabeth Price all contributed points. 
  • NSU claimed the set, winning 25-14, closing out the frame courtesy of a pair of North Greenville errors. 
  • Emerson Deferme gave the Sharks their first lead in the third set, putting the score at 8-7.
  • A 6-1 rally by NSU, capped off by a Marley Navaretta service ace, completely flipped the momentum, as Nova Southeastern took a 15-10 lead over the Trailblazers.
  • Both teams traded points back-and-forth throughout, as NSU needed a kill from Stockman to send the frame into extra points at 25-25.
  • Trailing 26-25, kills from Aniol and Stockman gave the Sharks a 27-26 lead before an error by NGU sealed the sweep for Nova Southeastern.
