MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The 2023 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) Women’s Volleyball and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-South Region team were announced on Wednesday afternoon. Nadia Lindner headlines the All-South Region teams and was selected as the 2023 D2 CCA, as well as, the AVCA Volleyball South Region Player of the Year. Lindner also was recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year on November 21st. In addition to the All-South Region Player of the Year honor, Lindner also was named to the All-South Region First-Team, in addition to being named to the AVCA All-Region First-Team.
Lindner is the first Nova Southeastern Women’s Volleyball student-athlete to be named the Sunshine State Conference, D2 CCA South Region and AVCA South Region Player of the Year.
“What an accomplishment for Nadia! I’m so proud of her and her teammates for helping her get to this point,” stated Head Coach Kacie Ehinger. “To be recognized by the rest of the region for her amazing year is a true testament to what she has done this year.”
On the season, Lindner led NSU in kills (430), points (484.5), points-per-set (4.66), kills-per-set (4.13), and hitting percentage (0.286). Nadia tallied at least 20 kills on six occasions during the 2023 season, including setting a season-high against Florida Tech with 25 in the final match of the regular season. Lindner recorded the 1,000th kill of her collegiate career on October 20th, in a match against Auburn-Montgomery at the Sunshine State Conference and Gulf South Conference Crossover Tournament. Lindner was named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week four times during the 2023 campaign, winning the honor in three of the last five weeks of the season.
Taylor Stockman, a Second-Team All-Sunshine State Conference representative, was named an Honorable Mention to the AVCA All-South Region team. Stockman ended the regular season second on the Sharks in kills (328), kills-per-set (2.95), points (402.5) and points-per-set (3.63). Defensively, Stockman recorded 261 digs, while averaging 2.35 per-set and accumulated 83 blocks. The 2022 Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year had ten matches with double-digit kills and digs.
“I’m so happy for Taylor being recognized once again,” continued Ehinger. “We added her playing back row this season and she has thrived, putting up even better numbers that last year. She is a constant worker and deserving of this recognition.”
The Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team begins play in the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament on Thursday, November 30th, taking on Embry-Riddle in the first round from the University of Tampa.
