Volleyball – #24 Sharks Fall Against #17 Lynn

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The 24th ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team was defeated in four-sets to the 17th ranked Lynn Fighting Knights on Saturday evening from the Rick Case Arena.

How it Happened
  • The Sharks trailed 3-1 in the opening set, but a service ace from Elizabeth Price quickly tied the game at 3-3.
  • NSU and Lynn traded points back-and-forth, with neither team being able to build much separation in the early stages, as the score sat tied at 9-9.
  • The Fighting Knights rallied to score four unanswered points, but NSU was able to take advantage of a trio of Lynn errors, bringing the score to 14-13. 
  • Following another pair of errors by Lynn, Gabrielle Spankus and Brittany Landrum teamed for a block, giving the Sharks a 20-19 lead late in the frame. 
  • Lynn took the first set 25-21 over NSU. 
  • Nova Southeastern began the second frame with a 4-1 lead, capitalizing on three Lynn errors in addition to a block from Landrum. 
  • NSU used another 4-1 rally to extend the advantage to 8-3 over Lynn. 
  • Three consecutive kills from Price gave the Sharks a 12-7 lead in the frame. 
  • Later in the set, Taylor Stockman tallied three straight points, before Kate Mihacevich added a kill of her own, pushing the Sharks’ advantage to 19-11. 
  • Mihacevich sparked a set-clinching 5-0 rally by NSU, tying the match at 1-1, as Nova Southeastern claimed the frame 25-13. 
  • Both teams exchanged points back-and-forth in the third frame, as the score was tied at 8-8. 
  • A 7-1 run by Lynn put the score at 15-9.
  • NSU dropped the third set 25-15.
  • The Sharks held a 10-7 advantage over Lynn following a kill from Landrum and a block from both Mihacevich and Olivia Aniol
  • Late in the set, Lynn led 24-20 over NSU. 
  • The Sharks rallied to cut the Fighting Knights lead to 24-23, but dropped the next point and lost the final set 25-23.
