From his famous “It’s Over Dunk” to his now 3 point performance, Vince Carter has brought back the days of “Vinsanity” once again to the NBA.
Carter at 42 years old was in a groove on Wednesday night, hitting multiple threes like he was Stephan Curry from behind the arc. He had scored 14 points alone in the second quarter, including a spot-up jumper hit in the first to start his night. Carter would then tac on another three before finishing the game with 17 points, 0 assist and 4 rebounds. The Atlanta Hawks would go on to win 100-96 against the New York Knicks at MSG. Carter said after the game that, “It’s a shooter’s gym,” Carter said. “If you hit a few, it’s gold.” Even though the Knicks fans left the Garden frustrated, Malika Andrews stated that despite their teams performance, Knicks fans were excited to see Carter’s performance.
Carters intentions are to play in all 82 games this year. Carter said “I want to make sure I am available for every game,” Carter told ESPN. “Obviously, it is Coach’s decision, but I want to keep my body right so I can do that.” If last night performance any indication of his abilities I don’t see that being a problem.
In the next game, Carter and the Atalanta Hawks will take on the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. Looking at both teams, they should matchup well on paper and on the court. Carter will definitely look to perform at a high level given his age and his plans to retire at the end of the season. Game time is Thursday night at 8 pm ET.
