July 15, 2019 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The late Vince Manuwai, who played on Jacksonville’s offensive line from 2003-10, has been named No. 18 on the Jaguars All-25, the club announced today. Jaguars All-25 presented by Sharpie is a collection of the top 25 non-active players in franchise history, as voted on by members of the local media. The Jaguars’ silver celebration kicked off in mid-March with the start of the new league year and the unveiling of the team’s 25th season commemorative logo designed to embody the spirit of DUUUVAL. “One of my favorite teammates I’ve ever had the pleasure of going to battle with,” said former Jaguars RB Fred Taylor. “Big Vince never complained. He’d always say, ‘Whatever you wanna do, Bruddah, I got you,’ and he always rushed to snatch guys off the pile and pick me up.” Manuwai, a 6-2, 333-pound offensive guard, was originally selected by Jacksonville in the third round (72nd overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft. He was a key player in the team’s run-game, and during his first five seasons Manuwai missed only one game and helped the Jaguars rush for 2,541 yards in 2006 and 2,391 in 2007. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Manuwai was a 1999 graduate of Farrington High School, earning letters in football, track and field and basketball. He played collegiately at the University of Hawaii and was a three-year starter, regarded as one of the best pass-protectors in school history after not allowing a sack in his 35 career starts. “A scout once told me about getting guys from Hawaii, that you’re either going to get clowns or quiet guys who will just maul you, and Vinny Manuwai was a quiet guy who just mauled defensive players,” said Cole Pepper, a sports reporter with WJXT and a member of the All-25 voting panel.
