BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic Volleyball has announced its 2024 schedule on Friday, highlighted by 15 regular season home matches, including a pair of home tournaments, inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
“2024 is going to be an exciting year as we enter our second season in the American Athletic Conference,” said head coach Fernanda Nelson. “We built a tough non-conference schedule that will really help us prepare to compete at a high level as we gear up for AAC play on Sept. 27.”
Florida Atlantic is looking to improve upon its stellar inaugural AAC campaign from a season ago that saw the Owls finish second in the AAC East with an impressive 20-13 record and earn their fourth all-time postseason appearance and first-ever NIVC bid.
Prior to opening the 2024 season, the Owls will compete in their annual Red vs. Blue match on Saturday, Aug. 17, before closing out the preseason with an exhibition contest against D-II foe Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Florida Atlantic will open the 2024 campaign at home, hosting Bryant (19-12), Seton Hall (14-15), and Ball State (17-15) for the FAU Invitational on Aug. 30-31.
The Owls will close out their season-opening four-game homestand, welcoming rival FIU (13-19) for a midweek clash on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Florida Atlantic will then hit the road for the first time in 2024, heading to Lubbock, Texas to compete in the Red Raider Classic against Green Bay (16-16), Northern Arizona (7-20), and host Texas Tech (11-19) on Sept. 6-7.
The Owls remain on the road as they return to the Sunshine State to compete in the Florida State Classic, facing off against host Florida State (23-9) and UCF (17-12) on Sept. 13-14.
Florida Atlantic closes out its non-conference slate on Sept. 20-21 as the Owls welcome Illinois State (12-19), Mercer (16-12), and Stetson (13-16) for the Owls Paradise Classic.
The Owls’ will kick off their AAC schedule with a three-game homestand beginning on Sept. 27 against ECU (21-11), before taking on Charlotte (11-20) on Sept. 29 and opening up the month of October on Oct. 4 vs. Memphis (11-20).
Florida Atlantic will begin its first AAC road trip of the season on Oct. 6 at Temple (17-14). The Owls will then head to Oklahoma to face off against Tulsa (18-15) on Oct. 11 and then close out its three-game road stretch on Oct. 13 at Wichita State (26-8).
The Owls return to Paradise on Oct. 18 as they host Rice (18-11), before closing out their two-game home stretch on Oct. 20 against cross-state foe South Florida (22-12).
Florida Atlantic will head back out on the road for a three-game road trip beginning on Oct. 25 against ECU. The Owls head to Charlotte on Oct. 27, before closing out their road trek with their only midweek conference matchup of the year on Oct. 30 at South Florida.
The Owls return home to kick off the month of November as they host Temple on Nov. 3.
Florida Atlantic closes out its regular season road slate in the Lone Star State as the Owls visit North Texas (17-16) on Nov. 8 and UTSA (15-15) for their regular season road finale on Nov. 10.
The Owls will conclude the regular season at home, hosting UAB (5-26) on Nov. 15 and Tulane (6-25) for senior day on Nov. 17.
The 2024 American Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by Wichita State, will be held on November 22-24, 2024, at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas. The 2024 NCAA Tournament will begin on Dec. 5 and conclude with the National Championship on Dec. 22 in Louisville, Ky.
