BERKELEY, Calif. – The University of Miami volleyball team (15-3, 5-2 ACC) fell to the Cal Golden Bears (6-11, 3-4 ACC) in five sets Thursday night at Haas Pavilion.
The Hurricanes recorded 50 kills, 35 digs, seven blocks and 10 aces. Senior Flormarie Heredia Colon led with 28 kills on a .254 hitting percentage, while sophomore Logan Wiley tallied five blocks.
Miami opened the match strong with a 5-0 run and two aces from Dalia Wilson to take the first set, 25-16. The Canes followed with another dominant showing in set two, hitting .478 to win 25-14. Cal bounced back in the third, capitalizing on late momentum to win 25-19, then fought off a 4-0 Miami run to claim the fourth set, 25-22.
In the deciding set, the Golden Bears held a slim lead before pulling away late to secure the 15-12 win. Miami will face No. 5 Stanford on Sunday.
