VB: Andrade Named AAC Offensive Player of the Week

Irving, Texas, September 4, 2023 – After leading the Bulls with 48 kills, outside hitter Maria Clara Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.  

Andrade averaged 4.36 kills per set as the Bulls went 2-1 in the Bulls Invitational over the weekend. In the opening match against Idaho State, Andrade finished with 21 kills, two away from matching a career-high and 14 digs. 

Later that day, she had 15 kills and 10 digs for her 10th career double-double. She also served two aces back-to-back to force a fourth set. In the sweep over the Mercer Bears, Andrade again led the Bulls with 15 kills. She also finished with a weekend-high .370 hitting percentage.  

UP NEXT 

Andrade and the South Florida Bulls will go on the road for the first time this season as they head to South Dakota to face IUPUI, South Dakota, and Drake from September 7-9.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her fourth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2023. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls’ program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. USF made its last postseason appearance in 2018, posting 20 wins and appearing in the NIVC. USF Volleyball has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 12 conference titles since its inception in 1972 and is entering its 50th campaign in 2021-22.
