USF Women’s Golf Welcomes Alyssa Montgomery

Bulls add depth coming off NCAA Tournament appearance

TAMPA, FLA., May 25, 2023 – USF women’s golf coach Erika Brennan announced the signing of Alyssa Montgomery, a transfer from Virginia Tech, for the 2023-24 season. She will join the Bulls as a fifth-year senior.

“We’re amped to welcome Alyssa to paradise,” said head coach Erika Brennan. “She has loads of post-season experience and her best golf is still ahead of her. She will add depth and wisdom to our lineup, and she embodies the values of our program. We are looking for her to contribute immediately to the team’s success and we can’t wait to watch all she accomplishes in her fifth year.” 

Montgomery, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., has competed for the Hokies for the last four seasons. She made three NCAA Tournament appearances and posted six top 20 finishes. In her career at Virginia Tech, Montgomery carded 21 rounds at par or better.

In 2023, Montgomery competed in nine events, carding three rounds at par or better. She won the 2021 Tennessee Women’s Am with a 9-under 207 and finished as the runner-up at the 2021 Tennessee Women’s Open at 2-under 214.

Montgomery graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Human Nutrition, Foods & Exercise Science.

The Bulls are in their sixth season under head coach Erika Brennan in 2022-23. USF is among the fastest rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan’s first season in 2018-19 and have captured three tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Junior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first two seasons, reached the 2022 NCAA Regionals as an individual and competed in both the U.S. Women’s Open and U.S. Women’s Amateur championships.
