Senior Alizee Vidal paced the Bulls with a 68 (-4) and is tied for fourth.
TAMPA, FLA., April 15, 2024 – The University of South Florida women’s golf team is alone in third place after the first round of the American Conference Women’s Golf Championship. The 33rd-ranked Bulls shot 281 (-7) in the opening round, two shots behind second-place East Carolina and three shots behind the leader SMU.
Play resumes in the 54-hole event Tuesday, April 16 at 8:00 AM (ET). The Bulls’ tee times are between 8:50 and 9:30 AM (ET). Following the second round, the players will be re-paired for the third round based on order of finish.
USF has two players in the Top 10. Along with Vidal, freshman Emma Falcher is tied for seventh place, one shot behind Vidal after carding a 69 (-3). On a day when the average score was 73.47 for the 60 completed rounds, the Bulls accounted for three of the 17 under par rounds. Senior Melanie Green shot 71 (-1), she is tied for 15th place.
Vidal carded an eagle, one of only five in the field, to go along with five birdies on her round. Vidal tied for the lead in par five scoring at 4.25 (-3).
Falcher shot 33 (-3) on the back nine after an even-par 36 on the front nine. Falcher finished strong, making four birdies in her last six holes, including her last two.
Green, ranked 19th nationally, was one-over after the first nine, she carded two birdies in her last four holes to finish under par for her round.
Graduate student transfer Alyssa Montgomery made two birdies and finished with a 73 (+1) to end the day tied for 23rd.
Junior Leonor Medeiros shot 79 (+7) and is in tied for 55th place.

About USF Women’s Golf
The 2023-24 campaign will be the Bulls’ sixth full season under head coach Erika Brennan. South Florida is among the fastest-rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan’s first season in 2018-19 and have captured five tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Senior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first three seasons, qualified for the 2022 NCAA Regional as an individual and was named a 2023 All-American Honorable Mention. Green and the Bulls reached the NCAA Regional as a team in 2023, marking the program’s first postseason appearance in 11 years.
