USF WBB:Bojan Jankovic Joins South Florida Women’s Basketball Staff

Tampa, Fla. – May 15, 2024 – Bojan Jankovic has joined the University of South Florida’s women’s basketball staff as the assistant head coach, announced by Head Coach Jose Fernandez on Wednesday.

“We are very excited to have Bojan (Jankovic) join our staff here at South Florida,” said Head Coach Fernandez. “He brings over 25 years of combined coaching experience from collegiate and international programs to Tampa Bay. Bojan is an excellent fit with our staff and student-athletes.”

COACHING RESUME

Jankovic got his start as an assistant coach for the University of the Ozarks men’s basketball program, where he worked primarily with the post players during the 2005-06 season. Jankovic handled many facets of coaching for the Ozarks, including recruiting and coordinating travel, and scouting.

Jankovic then served as an assistant coach at the Centenary College of Louisiana for three seasons, before taking over as head coach for the 2009-10 campaign.

The Belgrade, Serbia native assisted at Oral Roberts from 2010-15, where he helped the Golden Eagles win the 2012-13 Southland Conference Championship title. During Jankovic’s five-year tenure, the Golden Eagles played in one NCAA Tournament (2012-13), had a pair of WNIT’s (2010-11, 2011-12) appearances, and played in the WBI (2014-15).

Jankovic then spent four years at Wyoming, where the Cowgirls reached the WNIT three times, and made an appearance in the 2018-19 WNIT Elite Eight. Jankovic was key in cultivating talent from across the globe, as 10 of the 16 players on the Cowgirls roster were international in his final season in Laramie, Wyo.

Jankovic moved to the Bayou State where he was an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech from 2019-22. During his three-year tenure with the Bulldogs, Jankovic tutored the LA Tech post players and was instrumental in the squad’s 2021-22 WNIT bid.

Most recently, Jankovic was an assistant coach for Ole Miss from 2022-24. Jankovic guided the Rebel bigs to shatter the program’s single-season block record with 190 total rejections during the 2023-24 season. During Jankovic’s two seasons with the Rebels, the program had a combined record of 49-18, which included two NCAA Tournament appearances and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2022-23.

SERBIAN NATIONAL TEAM EXPERIENCE

From 2013-17, Jankovic served as an assistant coach on the Serbian Women’s Senior National Team. During his time with Serbia, Jankovic helped his homeland to win its first-ever pair of women’s basketball medals. In 2015, Serbia claimed gold at the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Then on the world’s biggest stage, at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Jankovic and Serbia earned a Bronze medal with a 70-63 win against France. He was also the head women’s basketball coach of the U20 Serbian National team at the 2022 FIBA U20 Women’s European Championship (Hungary). The U20 team went on to finish eighth in the semifinals of the event.

PROFESSIONAL CALIBER EXPERIENCE

Jankovic also held an assistant coach position with Radnicki Basketball Club (men’s) in Serbia for five years (1999-04) and served as the head coach for the U18 team. In Europe, Jankovic had the opportunity to work with Igor Koskov, who is currently an assistant for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA.

PLAYING CAREER/EDUCATION

Jankovic began his playing career with Belgrade Basketball Club (1983-93) in Serbia and played for Radnicki Basketball Club (1993-95) before coming to the United States. He spent his collegiate years at Mount Senario College in Ladysmith, Wisc., where he led the team to the 1996 National Small College National Championship. In 1997-98 he played for Avtodoroznik in the Russian Pro League. Jankovic earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the University of the Ozarks in 2006.

Jankovic is married to Bojana and has two children, Anja and Vuk.
