USF WBB: South Florida Welcomes Stetson For Student Night

Tampa, Fla. Nov. 9, 2023 – The University of South Florida women’s basketball welcomes Stetson to the Yuengling Center for a Student Night showdown on Friday, Nov. 10. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

SETTING THE STAGE

South Florida topped UT Arlington, 76-61, in the Bulls season opener on Monday night. The triumph marked USF’s 10th straight season opener. USF saw four performers finish the night with double figures. Sophomore forward Daniela Gonzalez locked in a personal-high 16 points, and freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh netted 15 points in her South Florida debut. Junior forward Romi Levy (10 points) and sophomore wing Carla Brito (10 points) rounded out the Bulls in double-digits.

Stetson is still looking for its first win of the 2023-24 season, as the Hatters fell, 68-57, at Tulane on Monday night. Jordan Peete (14 points) and Jamiya Turner (12) combined for 26 points in the loss.

THE SOUTH FLORIDA-STETSON SERIES

USF has collected 26 of the 36 all-time gatherings with Stetson, and the Bulls enter as winners of 14 straight pairings with the hatters. In Tampa, South Florida is 22-3 against Stetson. The series began during the 1977-78 season and the last clash was a 69-50 Bulls win (Dec. 15, 2021).

Friday night is Student Night in the Yuengling Center! There will be free food for the first 100 students in the Coke Lounge, raffle basket giveaways throughout the night, and postgame autographs at Gate A.

BULLS FANS CAN VOTE FOR PUISIS

Senior guard Sammie Puisis is one of 20 players named to the 2024 Ann Meyers-Drysdale Award watch list, which is annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I women’s college basketball. Bulls fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for each of the three rounds. The list will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February to just five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Myers-Drysdale and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee, where a winner will be selected. Fans can vote for Puisis at hoophallawards.com.
