Tampa, Fla. Jan. 6, 2024 – Redshirt junior forward Romi Levy collared a career-best 32-point showing in South Florida (10-6, 2-1) women’s basketball’s gritty, 70-63 win against Tulane in New Orleans, La. on Saturday afternoon.
Levy’s 32-point performance marked the highest output by a Bull this season. Senior forward Evelien Lutje Schipholt (10 points, 12 rebounds) added her third double-double performance of the season.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Tulane mustered together a 12-3 run to trim the Bull’s advantage to a single point, 63-62 with under two minutes to play. Then over the last 1:30 in the game, the Bulls connected on eight makes at the charity stripe, with seven coming from Levy to secure the South Florida win.
GAME OF RUNS
It was a game of big runs for the Bulls. South Florida’s first large scoring spurt of the day was a 9-0 run. With just under three minutes to play in the opening frame, Wilson kicked it off with a 3-pointer and layup, while Blasigh and Gonzalez each added a field goal. Then with 9:20 play in the second frame, USF held a 23-12 advantage against Tulane.
USF closed out the second stanza by scoring 10 of the final 12 points heading into halftime. Lutje Schipholt started the run with a layup before Levy added eight straight points from a pair of free throws and three straight jumpers. The Bulls went into the break with a 20-point lead, 41-21.

- South Florida is now 31-20 all-time against Tulane and is 22-1 as a member of the AAC.
- Levy’s 30-point performance was South Florida’s second of the season (Vittoria Blasigh, 31-points vs. Gardner-Webb, Dec. 10).
- Lutje Schipholt surpassed 900 career points and now has 906 on her career.
- Lutje Schipholt now has 11 career double-doubles.
