Tampa, Fla. – Nov. 16, 2024 – South Florida (2-2) welcomes UTRGV (1-2) to the Yuengling Center on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. and the game will air live on ESPN+.
SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls are looking to put a stop to their two-game losing skid on Sunday afternoon. UTRGV is also on a two-game losing streak and are on the hunt for their second road victory of the year.
THE SOUTH FLORIDA-UTRGV SERIES
South Florida holds a 1-0 advantage over UTRGV in the all-time series. The pairing between the Vaqueros and Bulls spans back to the 2021-22 season. In the last clash, USF topped UTRGV, 63-56 (Nov. 9, 2021).
LAST TIME OUT
South Florida fell to Vanderbilt, 62-49, on Thursday night in the Yuengling Center. Sophomore guard Vittoria Blasigh led the Bulls with a season-best 15 points and a team-high three 3-pointers. Graduate guard Mama Dembele dished out five assists and junior forward Carla Brito led USF on the glass, grabbing nine boards. Senior forward L’or Mputu swatted a career-high six blocks. Dembele has recorded 3+ assists in 33 straight games, the second-longest active streak in DI, behind Drake’s Katie Dinnebier (47 games). The Bulls are now 60-5 in nonconference home games since the 2014-15 season.
BEST OF THE BULLS
The Bulls are led by graduate guard Sammie Puisis (13.8 ppg.). Senior forward L’or Mputu and junior forward Carla Brito both hold a team best 6.8 rebound average. Dembele is USF’s top assister with 6.0 apg. (24 total assists tied 6th nationally). Puisis is tied 6th in the nation with 13 total 3-pointers made.
