Tampa, Fla. Feb. 16, 2024 – South Florida women’s basketball (15-11, 7-6) hosts Florida Atlantic (8-16, 3-10) inside the Yuengling Center on Saturday night. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game will stream live on ESPN+.

SETTING THE STAGE

The Bulls enter Saturday night as winners of four of their last six contests. Florida Atlantic heads to the Bay after evenly splitting its last four games.

THE SOUTH FLORIDA-FLORIDA ATLANTIC SERIES

Tuesday’s meeting will be the 18th all-time pairing between the two programs, which extends back to the 1984-85 season. South Florida holds a 10-7 all-time advantage in the series. The last meeting was a 76-20 Bulls win on Mar. 15, 2012.

LAST TIME OUT

South Florida defeated Wichita State, 79-57, at home on Tuesday night. Redshirt junior Romi Levy led all scorers with 28 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. Levy has collected seven 20-plus point performances this season Sophomore forward Daniela Gonzalez (13 points) notched her fourth double-figure performance of the season. Senior guard Aerial Wilson dished out a game-high seven assists.

BULL LEADERS

South Florida is led by freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh (14.2 ppg). Blasigh (66 3PM) is second among NCAA Freshman in total 3-pointers made. Redshirt junior forward Romi Levy (14.0 ppg) is the second Bull averaging double-digit points. Senior forward Evelien Lutje Schipholt leads on the glass with 7.9 rebounds per contest, which ranks 7th in the American. Redshirt senior guard Aerial Wilson dishes out a team-best 4.4 assists per contest. Wilson’s 115 total assists ranks 2nd in the American. Wilson (462 career assists) is 9th on the all-time AAC Career Total Assists ledger.

BULL CONNECTIONS

Jessica Jackson – Florida Atlantic Assistant – Was a player at South Florida from 2005-07 and was recently named as a participant in the 2024 WBCA Next Generation Institute, a high-level education program for experienced assistant coaches who aspire to become head coaches at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels. Desma Thomas Bateast – Florida Atlantic Assistant (one of six in Jose Fernandez’s active coaching tree). Was an assistant at South Florida from 2013-17. Janeta Rozentale – played at South Florida during the 2018-19 season.

AAC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS

For the fourth consecutive year, The American’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will be contested at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Both Championships expand to 14 teams this season with The Women’s Championship running March 9-13. Ticket packages for the Women’s Championship will be $85 per package. South Florida women’s basketball recorded its 11th 20-win season during the 2022-23 campaign. USF has made 18 postseason tournament appearances and had nine NCAA Tournament berths in head coach Jose Fernandez’s 23 seasons. The all-time winningest coach in program history, Fernandez has guided USF to 11 20-win seasons, two WNIT final four appearances, the 2009 WNIT championship, has won over 400 career games, and is the all-time wins leader in the American Athletic Conference.

In 2022-23, the Bulls had four players recognized by The American for impressive seasons, including Elena Tsineke (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Sammie Puisis (AAC Newcomer of the Year, All-Conference Second Team) and Carla Brito (AAC All-Freshman Team).
