Tampa, Fla. Jan. 1, 2023 – South Florida women’s basketball freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh has earned American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the third time this season, announced by the league office on Monday. Senior forward Evelien Lutje Schipholt earned an additional AAC Honor Roll nod.
Blasigh put up 16 points and netted three of four total 3-pointers in the final frame in South Florida 70-61 conference-opening win against SMU Saturday night at the Yuengling Center in Tampa Fla. The Guard also grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists, and grabbed a single steal against the Mustangs. Blasigh has recorded nine double-figure point games so far this year and is on a two-contest hot streak with back-to-back 16-point performances.
The Udine, Italy native is ranked 13th nationally with 39 total 3-pointers made this season, which is the second most among NCAA freshmen.
Senior forward Evelien Lutje Schipholt added an impressive 14 points, and eight rebounds, to go along with two assists, and a pair of steals, which earned her a spot on the Honor Roll.

The all-time winningest coach in program history, Fernandez has guided USF to 11 20-win seasons, two WNIT final four appearances, the 2009 WNIT championship, has won over 400 career games, and is the all-time wins leader in the American Athletic Conference.
In 2022-23, the Bulls had four players recognized by The American for impressive seasons, including Elena Tsineke (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Sammie Puisis (AAC Newcomer of the Year, All-Conference Second Team) and Carla Brito (AAC All-Freshman Team).
