USF Volleyball: South Florida Volleyball Announces 2024 Schedule

TAMPA, Fla., July 2, 2024 – The University of South Florida head volleyball coach, Jolene Shepardson, has announced the 2024 schedule. The 30-match schedule includes three in-state tournaments where the Bulls will face two ACC members, two SEC members, and one Big 10 institution.

The schedule features 10 home matches, all of which will be played inside The Corral.

South Florida will open the season on August 30 with a six-match road stretch starting with a tournament hosted by Florida State. The Bulls will go head-to-head with the Seminoles on Friday and then the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.  South Florida will close out the weekend with a match against UC Santa Barbara on Sunday.

The Bulls will stay in-state as they head to Gainesville for the Gator Tournament from September 6-8. South Florida will open the tournament against hosts, Florida Gators on Friday. The Bulls will continue the tournament on Saturday with a match against The Ohio State University Buckeyes, then close out the tournament and the six-match road stretch against Southern Indiana.

South Florida will come home for the first time in 2024 on September 12 when they welcome North Florida. On September 14, South Florida will welcome ACC Powerhouse, North Carolina State.

South Florida will close out its non-conference schedule at Florida Gulf Coast. The Bulls will face the Eagles on September 19 and the Dayton Flyers on September 20 and 21. 

The Bulls will open conference play with a two-match home stand against the Charlotte 49ers (Sept. 27) and the East Carolina Pirates (Sept. 29). South Florida will head back on the road for one match against Temple (Oct. 4), before welcoming Memphis on October 6.

Five of the next six matches for South Florida will be on the road. The Bulls will start the road stint with Wichita State (Oct. 11) and Tulsa (Oct. 13), before returning home to welcome Rice (Oct. 16). The Bulls will go back on the road for matches against Florida Atlantic (Oct. 20), North Texas (Oct. 25), and UTSA (Oct. 27).

South Florida will return home to welcome Florida Atlantic (Oct. 30) and Temple (Nov. 1). The Bulls will finish their regular season road contests with a trip to North Carolina to face Charlotte (Nov. 8) and East Carolina (Nov. 10). South Florida will close out the regular season at home with matches against Tulane (Nov. 15) and UAB (Nov. 17).

The American Athletic Conference will bring back the conference tournament in 2024. The tournament will see the top eight teams head to Wichita, KS., to battle for the right to represent the AAC in the NCAA Tournament. Wichita State will host the 2024 AAC Tournament from November 22 through November 24.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her fifth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2024. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls’ program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. Earning the AAC East Division title in 2023, South Florida made a postseason appearance in the NIVC, winning three games and advancing to the Fab Four to mark the longest postseason run in program history.
