TAMPA, October 26, 2023 – The University of South Florida volleyball team (13-8, 7-3 AAC) will go back on the road for a pair of matches against Tulsa and SMU this Friday and Sunday.
South Florida welcomed the North Texas Mean Green for their final match in the Yuengling Center last Friday. The Bulls fell 3-1 but set a season-high 31 points in the third set. Buse Hazan (Istanbul, Turkey) also set a new career-high with 27 kills. It was her 12th straight match with 10+ kills and her 11th of the season with 15+ kills.
As a team, the Bulls are ranked in the top 100 in the nation in eight categories: 30th in aces/set (1.86), 44th in assists/set (12.48), 47th in team aces (143), 58th in kills/set (13.19), 64th in hitting percentage (0.243), 89th in opponent hitting percentage (0.186), 93rd in team assists (961), 99th in win-loss percentage (.619).
Individually, South Florida has three players in the top 100 in six categories. Buse Hazan is in the top 100 in four categories: 43rd in kills/set (3.93, 44th in points/set (4.51), 54th in total kills (295), and 59th in total points (338.5). Marta Cvitkovic (Rejika, Croatia) is 68th in aces per set (0.44), while Caroline Dykes (Flower Mound, Texas) is 98th in total assists (680).

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her fourth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2023. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls’ program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. USF made its last postseason appearance in 2018, posting 20 wins and appearing in the NIVC.
