South Florida will return home for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
TAMPA, March 10, 2024– After a 26-game home stand, the University of South Florida softball team will head to Fort Myers to take on the FGCU Eagles for its first road test of the 2024 season. Following the doubleheader against FGCU, the Bulls will return home for a doubleheader against Colgate on Tuesday, previously scheduled for Wednesday.
The Bulls are coming off a 1-2 series loss to the Charlotte 49ers. The Bulls opened conference play with an 11-inning walk-off on Friday night. The 11-inning game was the second one for the American Athletic Conference this season. The first was between Memphis and UT Martin on March 1.
First-year infielder, Alex Wilkes (Tampa), hit the first home run of her career in Saturday’s game two doubleheader. It’s the sixth home run for the Bulls and the first of the first-year class.
Belle Sardja is ranked in the top 10 nationally in three categories: first in hit batters (1), third in innings pitched (70.1), and seventh in saves (3). She leads the conference in all three.
