USF Softball: USF Softball Closes Out Regular Season in San Antonio

TAMPA, Fla., May 1, 2024– The University of South Florida softball team will close out the 2024 regular season with a trip to San Antonio to face the UTSA Roadrunners this Friday through Sunday. This will be the first meeting between the two programs.

This weekend will be the last regular season series for South Florida before heading to Wichita, Kansas for the 2024 American Athletic Conference Tournament.

Payton Dixon (Smyrna, Del.) continues to prove to be one of the strongest pitchers in the conference. She currently leads the conference in six categories and ranks in the top 50 in the nation in seven. 

Dixon leads the conference in ERA (1.72), games started (25), innings pitched (159), shutouts (6), strikeouts (143), and victories (17). 

At the plate, Olivia Elliott (Tampa) has been a threat, proving to be the toughest to strike out in the American Conference. She ranks in the top 15 in the nation in the same category. Out of 138 plate appearances, Elliott has only been struck out four times. Elliott also has an OPS of .752.

  • UTSA is coming off a road trip at Tulsa, taking the game on Sunday with a score of 10-4.
  • Jaylen Prichard leads the Roadrunners with a .326 batting average. In her 135 plate appearances, she has 44 hits, eight doubles, and one home run.
  • In the circle, Jamie Gilbert has been UTSA’s go-to pitcher. Gilbert has made 35 appearances, earning a start in 23. She has pitched 13 complete games.
