MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 6, 2024 – The University of South Florida softball team (26-15, 6-8 AAC) clinched its first conference series win of the season in its 10-3 decision over the Memphis Tigers (4-29, 1-13 AAC) on Saturday afternoon. It’s the second straight game the Bulls have scored 10 or more runs.
South Florida was quick to take the lead in game two of the series. After a walk from Alexa Galligani (White Plains, N.Y.), Rian Eigenmann (Millville, N.J.) hit her first triple of the season to give the Bulls the early 1-0 lead. A passed ball from Memphis allowed Eigenmann to score.
The Bulls scored three more runs before the end of the opening frame. Tieley Vaughn (Wesley Chapel) singled to the center fielder and advanced on an error. The Memphis error allowed two runs to score. Jordyn Kadlub (Wesley Chapel) hit an RBI single to close out the Bulls scoring in the first inning.
The Bulls loaded the bases in the second inning and added to their lead on a Tigers passed ball. Memphis got on the board in the fourth inning, scoring a pair of runs on an error and a single.
South Florida extended its lead to 10-2 in the seventh inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from Olivia Elliott (Tampa). It was Elliott’s second home run of the season. Memphis added a run on a solo home run in the seventh inning.
Belle Sardja (Gibsonton) earned her 18th start of the season. She pitched her fifth complete game. She allowed no walks and one earned run.
