TULSA, OK, March 17, 2024 – The University of South Florida softball team (22-11, 2-4 AAC) fell to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (18-8, 5-1 AAC) on Sunday afternoon with a final score of 6-1.
Tulsa took the early 3-0 lead in the second inning off three singles, a double, and a South Florida error.
The Bulls got on the board in the fourth inning. Two walks and a fielder’s choice put one runner in scoring position. Kathy Garcia-Soto (Tampa) hit a deep ball to center field to bring Marissa Trivelpiece (Sugarloaf, Pa.) across the plate.
Tulsa added to its lead in the fourth and fifth innings.
South Florida added a run in the top of the seventh inning. Olivia Elliott (Tampa) reached on a Tulsa error and advanced on a groundout. Camille Ortiz-Martinez (Salinas, Puerto Rico) hit an RBI double to right field to score Elliott.
The Bulls sent three pitchers to the circle. Belle Sardja (Gibsonton) earned her 15th start on the season. Lexie Kopko (Stewartstown, Pa.) and Julia Apostolakos (Beachwood, N.J.) also made an appearance.
