USF MSOC: Eight NCAA Tournament Teams Highlight The 2024 South Florida Men’s Soccer Schedule

Tampa, Fla. – July 1, 2024 – University of South Florida men’s soccer head coach Bob Butehorn has released the 2024 schedule, which features eight programs that took part in the 2023 NCAA Tournament and 11 home regular season contests at Corbett Stadium.

Opponents that took part in the 2023 NCAA Tournament: Charlotte, FIU, Hofstra, Memphis, Mercer, Seattle, UCF, and UC Irvine.

REGULAR SEASON

The Bulls will kick off the regular season with a three-match homestand against Seattle (Aug. 22), Mercer (Aug. 25), and Eckerd College (Aug. 29).

In September, South Florida will then evenly split its next six matches between home and road opponents. USF’s first road contest of the season will be at UNC Wilmington (Sept. 2), before heading back to Corbett for two home matches against Florida Gulf Coast (Sept. 6) and UC Irvine (Sept. 9). The Bull’s second road test of the season will be at longtime rival UCF (Sept. 15), before welcoming fellow instate rival FIU (Sept. 20) to Tampa. The green and gold will then close out the month on the road in the Queen City against Charlotte (Sept. 27).

To round out the back half of the fall slate, five of the seven matches will take place at Corbett Stadium. The Bulls will play Temple (Oct. 5), Stetson (Oct. 8), Memphis (Oct. 18), Hofstra (Oct. 22), and Tulsa (Oct. 26) at home. While hitting the road for Florida Atlantic (Oct. 11) and UAB (Nov. 1) to complete the regular season campaign.

EXHIBITIONS

South Florida will prep for the regular season with three exhibition games at Corbett Stadium. The Bulls are scheduled to host Eastern Florida (Aug. 8), Southeastern (Aug. 12), and Georgia Southern (Aug. 17).

USF Men’s Soccer competed in the school’s first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.
 
The program also has a strong reputation within the professional game and boasts 30 MLS draft picks. Notable alumni include two-time MLS Golden Boot winner Jeff Cunningham, USA 1994 World Cup star Roy Wegerle, and 2013 MLS Cup winner Dom Dwyer. Men’s Soccer has two Alumni and a coach in the USF Athletics Hall of Fame: Fergus Hopper and Jeff Attinella, & Dan Holcomb.


The Bulls have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times over the past 22 seasons.
