TAMPA (Oct. 1, 2021) – The University of South Florida men’s soccer team heads back on the road, yet again, this weekend fr the first of two straight road matches, beginning at No. 7/4 Tulsa on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the match live on ESPN+.
Sunday’s tilt with the Golden Hurricane will be USF’s fourth against a member of the Top 15 in its last six outings. Tulsa comes in ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, and No. 4 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll. The Bulls recently faced No. 4/6 Clemson on Sept. 6 (L, 3-0), this same Tulsa side, when it was ranked No. 10/9 on Sept. 18 (L, 5-2), and No. 13/7 SMU on Sept. 24 (L, 2-0).

– Tulsa comes into its match with USF, 8-0 on the year, and 3-0 in the American, and ranked No. 7 and No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches and TopDrawerSoccer.com polls, respectively … The Golden Hurricanes are coming off a 2-1 overtime win over SMU on Wednesday night.
– With just 7.4 seconds remaining in the second overtime period, the Golden Hurricane netted the winner over the sixth-ranked Mustangs.

– Following Sunday’s match against Tulsa, the Bulls will play its second of two away games against Temple, in Philadelphia, on October 9 … Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
– Following its game against Temple, the Bulls return to Corbett Stadium, to play Memphis on October 15, at 7 p.m. … The match will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night.

– For the first time since Nov. 9, 2019, Corbett Stadium will return to full-capacity seating for fans, a stretch of 647-days entering USF’s season-opening match against Jacksonville on Aug. 26.

USF Men’s Soccer competed in the school’s first ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 21 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.

Also, Oscar Resano and Brian Schaefer were named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team. Head coach Bob Butehorn returns to lead USF in his fifth season on the sidelines.
