USF FOOTBALL: War on I-4 Week

NOTABLE:

• This will mark the 11th installment of the War on I-4. USF leads the series, 6-4, but UCF has won the last two meetings, including an epic 49-42 last-minute victory in the last game in Orlando in 2017. Four games in the series have been decided by a touchdown or less.

• Established in 2016, the War On I-4 Trophy is presented annually to the winner of the rivalry game. The traveling trophy measures 4-foot 3-inches in height and weighs 160 pounds with a detachable, pewter replica of the iconic I-4 road sign.

• Freshman running back Kelley Joiner Jr. had a strong starting debut with 115 yards on 13 carries (8.8 ypg) vs. No. 18 Memphis.

• Sophomore linebacker Dwayne Boyles posted 10 tackles vs. Memphis and now leads the team with 68 tackles and 12.5 tackles for loss while ranking second with 3.0 sacks.

• USF started 10 sophomores and two freshmen vs. No. 18 Memphis. It’s leading passer, rusher and top two tacklers in the game were underclassmen and the Bulls got one of their two interceptions from a freshman. 

• Punter Trent Schneider has posted the three top game punting averages in program history on the year. His 45.9 ypp average ranks 12th nationally and is on pace for a USF season mark.
