USF Baseball Welcomes Tulane for First Conference Home Series

TAMPA, MARCH 27, 2025 – The University of South Florida baseball team (13-9, 2-1 AAC) will welcome the Tulane Green Wave (17-8, 2-1 AAC) for the Bulls first home conference series under head coach Mitch Hannahs this Friday through Sunday at Red McEwen Field at the USF Baseball Stadium. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

Setting The Stage:

South Florida is coming off a series win over the UAB Blazers in Birmingham this past weekend. The Bulls bounced back after falling 3-1 on Friday, taking Saturday and Sunday with finals of 12-4 and 9-7.

LHP Corey Braun produced his third quality start on Friday. In 6.2 innings, he held the Blazers to two runs and struck out seven batters. He enters this series with a team-leading 42 strikeouts. RHP Bryce Archie and RHP Jack Nedrow earned a win against UAB. Archie pitched 4.2 innings on Saturday, holding the Blazers to two runs and striking out three. On Sunday, Nedrow pitched 6.0 innings, held the Blazers to two runs, and struck out six batters.

USF opened their 60th season, first under Mitch Hannahs, with a home series win over Iowa.

Series History:

The Bulls and Green Wave have met 73 times, with Tulane leading the all-time series 43-30. Tulane took the last series, 2-1, in New Orleans. The Green Wave lead the series in Tampa, 18-9.

Note-A-Bull:

  • Senior Ryan Pruitt hit back-to-back lead-off home runs over the weekend. He has hit a lead-off home run in three of the last seven games. He is the second DI baseball player to hit a lead-off home run in back-to-back games.
  • On Sunday, the Bulls hit a season-high five home runs, the most by the team since the 14-8 win over UCF on April 22, 2023.
  • Bradke Lohry led the team with two home runs on Sunday, becoming the first player since Stewart Puckett hit two against Stetson on April 2, 2023.
  • RHP Jack Nedrow and INF Carlos Jacome earned a spot on this week’s American Athletic Conference Honor Roll.
  • On Saturday, the Bulls set a season-high of 17 hits in a game and were one hit away from tying it on Sunday.
  • On Sunday, Stewart Puckett became the third Bull to have four hits in a game. The other was Marcus Brodil (3/19 vs. FGCU) and Carter Murphy (2/21 at Georgia Southern)

Hannahs at the Helm:

Mitch Hannahs was named South Florida’s eighth head coach in program history on June 8, 2024, after compiling 355 wins over 11 seasons at Indiana State. The 2023 ABCA NCAA DI Midwest Region Coach of the Year guided the Sycamores to six conference titles and five NCAA Regionals, guiding ISU to a spot in the 2023 NCAA Super Regional. He takes over a USF team that went 26-29 last year and features 24 new players.

60th Year of USF Baseball:

The South Florida Baseball program played its first season in 1966 and will enter its 60th campaign in 2025. The Bulls have made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and earned their first-ever Super Regional berth in 2021. USF has won 11 conference titles – five tournament titles (3 Sun Belt, 1 Metro, and 1 American) and six regular season championships (3 Sun Belt, 2 Metro, and 1 C-USA). Bulls baseball players have been recognized with All-America honors 12 times, and 19 Bulls have earned Freshman All-America accolades.
