TAMPA, APRIL 7, 2025 – The University of South Florida baseball team (19-10, 7-2 AAC) will return home and welcome the Stetson Hatters (20-13, 10-2 ASUN) for a Tuesday matchup at Red McEwen Field. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m., and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Setting The Stage:
The Bulls are coming off a series win against the Memphis Tigers this weekend. The Bulls swept the doubleheader on Friday before dropping a heartbreaker on Sunday. South Florida’s 7-2 conference start is the best since 2015 under head coach Mark Kingston.
LHP Corey Braun and 1B Sebastian Greico were named to this week’s American Athletic Conference Honor Roll. Braun pitched his second-longest outing in game one on Friday. He went 8.0 innings, allowed one run, and struck out six batters. Greico started in all four games, batting .556 at the plate, and hit three home runs.
Series History:
The Bulls and Hatters have met 184 times, with Stetson narrowly leading the all-time series, 93-91. South Florida leads the series in Tampa, 49-46. Stetson is currently on a three-game winning streak in the series.
Note-A-Bull:
- On Sunday, INF Rafael Betancourt matched a program record of five hits in a game. He went 5-for-5 with one run. The last Bull to have five hits in a game was Riley Hogan at UCF on April 17, 2021.
- In game two on Friday, Sebastian Greico became the second player this season to hit two home runs in a game. The first was Bradke Lohry at UAB on March 23.
- INF Carlos Jacome has recorded a hit in four of his last five games. He produced a multi-hit performance in two of those games.
- OF Marcus Brodil has reached base in a team-leading 11 straight games. He started the season with a 14-game reached base streak, which still stands as the longest of any Bull this season.
- Lance Trippel is on an eight-game hitting streak, which is the longest of the season for the catcher. He has hit four home runs during the streak.
- LHP Corey Braun continues to lead the pitching staff with 54 strikeouts this season, with RHP Jorge DeCardenas behind with 31.
Hannahs at the Helm:
Mitch Hannahs was named South Florida’s eighth head coach in program history on June 8, 2024, after compiling 355 wins over 11 seasons at Indiana State. The 2023 ABCA NCAA DI Midwest Region Coach of the Year guided the Sycamores to six conference titles and five NCAA Regionals, guiding ISU to a spot in the 2023 NCAA Super Regional. He takes over a USF team that went 26-29 last year and features 24 new players.

The Bulls have made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and earned their first-ever Super Regional berth in 2021.
