USF Baseball Completes Sweep Over Tulane for Best Conference Start In 10 Years

The Bulls sweep the Green Wave for the first time since 1993.

TAMPA, MARCH 30, 2025– Carlos Jacome and Marcus Brodil led the University of South Florida baseball team (16-9; 5-1 AAC) to a dominant 10-3 win over the Tulane Green Wave (17-11; 2-4 AAC) to complete the series sweep on Sunday afternoon at the USF Baseball Stadium. The Bulls are one game behind first-place East Carolina in the conference standings.  

This is the first time the Bulls have swept the Green Wave since 1993 and the first time in program history that they swept them in Tampa. The Bull’s 5-1 start in conference play is the best start since the 2015 season.

Tulane opened the game with two runs in the first inning. The Bulls were held hitless until the third inning. Lance Trippel got the Bull’s first hit with a single to right field. After a walk from Marcus Brodil, Carlos Jacome hit an RBI single to cut the Green Wave’s lead to one run. With the bases loaded and the count full, Jackson Mayo earned a walk to give South Florida the 3-2 lead.

Bradke Lohry started the fourth inning with a lead-off walk. An RBI double from Marcus Brodil gave South Florida its first lead of the game. The Bulls extended their lead with a 405-foot home run over the left field wall from Jacome.

South Florida had the bases loaded with two outs in the fourth inning after two walks and a single. Brodil hit a bases-clearing double to give South Florida the 8-2 lead. Jacome followed with an RBI double, making him a triple shy of the cycle.

Brodil and Jacome got on base in the seventh inning with a single and a walk. Ryan Pruitt gave the Bulls their 10th run of the game with a double to left field.

The Bulls sent three pitchers to the mound, with RHP Adan Longoria earning his first start this season. RHP Matt Goldenbaum pitched three innings, holding the Green Wave to one hit. He earned his first win of his career. RHP Jorge DeCardenas pitched the final five innings, striking out a game-leading four batters.

  • This is the Bulls’ first AAC home series sweep since April 5-7, 2024, against Wichita State.
  • Brodil and Jacome are the first Bulls to record four RBI in a game since Ryan Pruitt did so versus Iowa on February 14, 2025.
  • Brodil now has a team-high 30 hits on the season.
