USF Baseball: Boser homers twice, Bulls erupt for 12-run inning in 17-5 win at UNF

Bobby Boser tallied his second career two-homer game with a career-high seven RBI.

JACKSONVILLE (March 5, 2024) – Bobby Boser (Wesley Chapel) launched a pair of home runs and collected a career-best seven RBI on Tuesday afternoon as the University of South Florida Bulls (6-5) run-ruled the UNF Ospreys (7-4) in eight innings. Boser’s second homer of the day capped a 12-run eighth inning for South Florida. His first home run of the game measured an estimated 470 feet.

The 12-run outburst began with the game tied at 5-5 in the top of the eighth. USF overcame a 3-0 deficit after three innings to take a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth. UNF answered back in the bottom of the fifth inning to regain a 5-4 lead. The Bulls tied things up with a single run in the seventh frame before the flood gates opened.

South Florida sent 17 batters to the plate in the eighth inning, collected seven hits and seven walks, against five different UNF pitchers.

John Montes (Toa Alto, Puerto Rico) logged a career-high four hits and drove in three runs.

On the mound, Lawson Gailey (Lavonia, Ga.) made his season debut on a limited pitch count and the Bulls got strong relief outings from Adan Longoria (Plant City) and Nick Pineda (Davie). Pineda was credited with the win, tossing two shutout innings in his USF debut.
