The program congratulates 22 student-athletes expected to receive their degrees during fall commencement ceremonies this weekend at the Yuengling Center.
TAMPA, DEC. 13, 2019 – USF Athletics congratulates another special group of student-athletes expected to participate in fall commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday at the Yuengling Center.
A total of 22 student-athletes are projected to receive their degrees this fall, increasing USF Athletics’ total number of graduates to 288 since the 2016-17 school year. Heading into this fall term, the Bulls registered an overall annual department grade-point average in excess of 3.0 for a program record four straight years and nine consecutive semesters.
Among the student-athletes projected to graduate this weekend are 11 members of the football program that’s now being led by new head coach Jeff Scott.
Quarterback Blake Barnett (Corona, Calif.) and wide receiver Stanley Clerveaux (North Miami) will receive their master’s degrees in entrepreneurship after being a part of USF football’s winningest four-year stretch (36-15 from 2015-18), two bowl victories over Power 5 opponents and the two winningest seasons in school history (11-2 in 2016, 10-2 in 2017).
Record-breaking tight end Mitchell Wilcox (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) will prepare for the NFL Draft after receiving his degree in marketing. The three-time all-conference selection owns nearly every tight end record in USF’s history books, including career receptions (100), receiving yards (1,326) and touchdowns (11). Wilcox set USF’s season tight end records with 43 catches for 540 yards in 2018 and reached another new milestone at his position with five touchdown receptions in 2019.
“Being a student-athlete at this university has been unbelievably special and I’m thankful for all the lessons, relationships and great competition that I’ve been exposed to,” Wilcox said.
Punter Trent Schneider (Sydney, Australia) will receive his degree in communication after being named a 2019 Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Schneider earned second-team honors with a 4.00 grade-point average, becoming just the second USF football player to be recognized as an Academic All-American. Schneider also shined on the field during his junior season in 2019, setting program records for punting average (46.0 yards) and total punting yards (3,266).
Forward Evelyne Viens (L’Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada) and forward/defender Aubrey Megrath (West Palm Beach, Fla.) will walk across the Yuengling Center stage as graduates after helping No. 12 USF women’s soccer capture a conference title for the third straight year, set a school record with 16 wins and make the program’s first-ever Sweet 16 appearance this season.
Viens was named an All-American by United Soccer Coaches for the third straight year after breaking program and American Athletic Conference season records with 25 goals, including five scores in the NCAA tournament. The two-time AAC Offensive Player of the Year finished her incredible collegiate career holding USF and conference career records for goals (73), points (169) and shots (360).
“I could not be more proud to be a Bull,” Viens said.
Goalkeeper Harrison Devenish-Meares (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) and defender Jonathan Rosales (Kissimmee, Fla.) will both receive their degrees following a memorable season with USF men’s soccer. Head coach Bob Butehorn’s Bulls made the program’s 21st NCAA tournament appearance and first trip since the 2016 season.
The University of South Florida System will confer more than 5,000 degrees during fall commencement ceremonies set to take place Friday through Monday at three locations throughout the Bay area. USF graduates hail from 48 different states and 98 nations. View the commencement ceremony schedule HERE.
