USF Athletics: Contract Extensions Announced for Pair of Coaches

Men’s golf coach Steve Bradley and director of track & field and cross country Erik Jenkins have been extended through 2028-29.

TAMPA (December 19, 2024) – University of South Florida Vice President for Athletics Michael Kelly has announced contract extensions for men’s golf head coach Steve Bradley and director of track and field and cross country Erik Jenkins. The duo has been extended through the 2028-29 season. Both coaches have led their programs to unparalleled success in their respective tenures.

“Coach Bradley and Jenkins have brought championship success to South Florida Athletics both in their respective sports and in the quality of student-athletes they recruit to our university,” Kelly said. “Coach Bradley has guided the men’s golf program to sustained success over the past decade, and our track and field program has risen rapidly to new heights under the leadership of coach Jenkins. This is an exciting time at the University of South Florida. As we strive to be a model athletic department for modern times, I am extremely confident in both coaches’ continued leadership.”

Bradley, the six-time American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, is in his 11th season as the Bulls head coach. He has guided South Florida to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, including seven consecutive trips from 2015-22, and most recently again in 2024. Under Bradley, the Bulls have advanced to the NCAA Championship three times and reached the NCAA Match Play Finals in 2015 before finishing sixth nationally.

Bradley has guided USF to six AAC Championships, coached five AAC individual conference champions, four players to AAC Player of the Year honors, and two AAC Freshman of the Year. Under his leadership, South Florida has collected 24 tournament titles, the most in men’s golf program history.

“I’m beyond grateful to Michael Kelly for his leadership, support, and belief in me as the leader of our men’s golf program,” Bradley said. “This is a testament to our former and current players that I’ve had the privilege to coach, and without their trust in me, none of this would be possible. It’s my honor to continue to serve as head coach at the University of South Florida, and I’m looking forward to a bold and bright future for our entire athletic department and university.”

Coach Jenkins guided the men’s track and field team to both the indoor and outdoor AAC Championship in 2024, marking the first men’s conference championships in program history. The women’s team finished third in the indoor and outdoor championships that same season, their best finish since 2013. Jenkins and his staff were named the 2024 AAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and has seen his athletes capture 23 individual and relay event conference championships, two individual event national championships, and multiple All-America honors. His Bulls have rewritten the record books and own 34 program records.

“I’m honored to continue leading our track and field and cross country programs,” Jenkins said. “This extension reflects the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes, coaching staff, and everyone who supports our vision. I’m excited for the future as we build on our successes and strive for even great achievements.”
