The Gators will run four regular season meets before heading into the postseason portion of the schedule.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Cross Country team released its 2022 schedule on Friday afternoon, as announced by Head Coach Mike Holloway.
The Gators will participate in four regular season meets before heading into the normal postseason schedule featuring the conference championships, NCAA Regional and NCAA Championships.
“Very excited for the upcoming cross country season.” Holloway said. “We have a young and talented team for both the men and the women and I’m excited to carry over the momentum from the 2021-2022 seasons.”
Florida will open the season in Orlando to run at the UCF Invite on September 2nd.
Two weeks later, the Gators will get a preview of the conference’s top talent when they travel to Oxford, Mississippi for the SEC Preview Meet.
The regular season concludes with a split weekend between the South Florida XC Invite (Tampa, Fla.) and the Arturo Barrios Invite on the campus of Texas A&M.
After hosting the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May, Ole Miss will play host to the SEC Cross Country Championships on October 28th.
The Gators finished 6th (Women) and 7th (Men) at last year’s meet held on the campus of Missouri.
“I’m excited to get the season started.” Assistant Coach Chris Solinsky said. “We have a young capable team with some big goals. These meets will help us build experience and momentum heading to the post season.”
Florida’s postseason will continue with the NCAA South Regional, once again held in Huntsville, Alabama. At last year’s event, the Gators were 5th on the women’s side and 8th on the men’s side.
The season will conclude with the NCAA Cross Country Championships on November 19th in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Parker Valby represented the Gators on the national stage last season, finishing 27th out of 255 runners at the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
She followed that up with a national runner-up finish at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 5000 meters, helping the Gators to the team title.
