Asekol, Thorner, Valby and Wilson are being acknowledged for their placement in the Top 25 at the NCAA South Regional.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Off the back of the Florida Gators second place finish at the NCAA Cross Country South Regional on Friday, November 10, four members of the women’s team are being recognized by the USTFCCCA for their success during the competition.
Flomena Asekol, Elise Thorner, Parker Valby, and Allison Wilson were all named to the USTFCCCA South All-Region team courtesy of their placement in the top twenty-five on Friday.
Valby and Asekol recorded top ten finishes as they placed 1st and 8th respectively. This was the third consecutive meet in which Valby placed first overall, the previous two coming at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational and the SEC Cross Country Championships. Asekol and Valby have now been named to the USTFCCCA South Region All-Region team for the third consecutive year as they both did so in 2021 and 2022.
Wilson and Thorner were the next two Gators to cross as they finished 14th and 25th. This is the first All-Region accolade for both Wilson and Thorner and the second consecutive week that they have each placed in the top twenty-five, previously doing so at the SEC Cross Country Championships.
The quartet of Gators helped the program punch their ticket to the NCAA Cross Country Championships which will mark the first time the program has competed in the event as a team since 2018.
