UF WTN: Florida to Face No. 2 Georgia in Bulldogs Territory

The Gators continue their strenuous road slate at the home of the Bulldogs. The match against No. 2 Georgia will start at 1 p.m. and be played at Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens.

ATHENS, Ga.- Florida is set for a challenging showdown on Sunday afternoon as they travel to No. 2 Georgia, a team that has been dominant in SEC play, boasting a perfect 2-0 record so far. The matchup was slated for a 1 p.m. start and will be played at Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Coming off a tough loss at South Carolina, the Gators will need to regroup and dig deep against a Bulldogs squad that has only faced one deficit in 2024-25. As the stakes rise in week two of conference play, Florida will look to bounce back and make a statement against one of the nation’s top teams.

GATORS LAST TIME OUT
Florida will return to the courts after a tough battle at South Carolina. The Gators were blanked 4-0 to the No. 53 Gamecocks on Friday evening. Despite the loss, UF had several close matches in both singles and doubles play.

Senior duo Alicia Dudeney<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/alicia-dudeney/16980> and Bente Spee<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/bente-spee/16983> were the highlight of doubles, claiming a victory over No. 57 Kaitlyn Carnicella and Sarah Hamner. Dudeney and Spee pulled out a 7-5 victory on the road, proving their compatibility at the No. 1 doubles spot. Dudeney also showed out in singles winning her first set 6-1, but her match with No. 68 Carnicella was left unfinished with the second set tied at 6-6.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
Georgia has built an impressive resume already this year. The Bulldogs won the 2025 ITA National Indoors Championship, they are predicted to win the 2025 SEC Title, Dasha Vidmanova claimed the NCAA singles National Championship, and they stand as the second ranked team in the country after earning a spot in the 2024 NCAA team final.

Individually Georgia has Vidmanova, the No. 1 singles player in the nation, No. 39 Anastasiia Lopata, and No. 56 Aysegul Mert. In the doubles category, the Bulldogs are represented by No. 16 Mert and Guillermina Grant, and No. 25 Mell Reasco and Vidmanova in the top-25.
