UF WGOLF: Gators Pair Named to ANNIKA Award Watch List

The preseason watch list, announced Thursday on the Golf Channel, features Gators senior Addie Baggarly and sophomore Annabell Fuller.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The ANNIKA Award watch list was announced today, with Gators Addie Baggarly and Annabell Fuller featured.

The ANNIKA Award is presented annually to the top female U.S. collegiate golfer and is voted on by players, coaches and members of the golf media. It is named after Annika Sörenstam, who is regarded as one of the best female golfers in history. The 72-time champion on the LPGA tour, including 10 majors, has logged over 90 international tournament wins. Sörenstam tops the LPGA career money list with earnings that exceed $22 million, over $2 million ahead of her closest rival.

Addie Baggarly appeared in all seven events for the Gators in the 2019-2020 season and was the highest finisher for Florida in two events – Cougar Classic (T4) and the Northrup Grumman Regional Championship (T29). The senior earned 2020 Second Team All-SEC honors after finishing the season as the No. 36 collegiate player in the nation according to Golfstat.

Annabell Fuller enrolled early at Florida in the spring of 2020 and appeared in three events. The England native placed within the top 25 twice, including a T3 finish at the Gators Invitational which saw Florida finish first for the fifth year in a row. The sophomore boasts an elite summer, coming off of a championship title at the English Women’s Open Amateur Stroke Play tournament and placing second in the Swiss International Championship.

Baggarly and Fuller are honored alongside 11 other SEC female golfers.

The ANNIKA Award will be presented to the top female golfer at the end of the season alongside the Haskins Award, which acknowledges the top male Division I golfer.

The Florida Gators women’s golf team will begin fall competition on Oct. 5 to Oct. 7 at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. Coverage will be on the Golf Channel from 4:30-7:30 p.m. (ET) daily.
