Maisie Filler, Annabell Fuller and Lauren Waidner were recognized by the Southeastern Conference.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida women’s golfers Maisie Filler, Annabell Fuller and Lauren Waidner were honored by the Southeastern Conference on Friday when the league office announced the end-of-season awards.
Filler was named to the All-Freshman Team, while Fuller earned a spot on the All-SEC Second Team. Meanwhile, Waidner was tabbed to the SEC Community Service Team for the third consecutive year.
Filler is coming off of a freshman season that included participation in all but one of the Gators tournaments. In 22 rounds of play, the Palm Beach Gardens native posted four rounds under par and recorded four top-25 finishes.
During the 2020-21 campaign, Annabell Fuller flourished. Appearing in seven tournaments, Fuller posted a team-low 72.63 stroke average and led the team in top-10 finishes (4). Her hard work came to fruition at the Gators Invitational where she clinched the individual medal behind a 5-under par 205 performance.
For the third straight year, the conference office has recognized Lauren Waidner’s efforts off the course.
Waidner was honored earlier this season at the East Lake Cup when she was the recipient of the East Lake Foundation’s Tom Cousins Award. This award is presented annually to an outstanding male and female golfer who epitomizes the standards of the East Lake Foundation, both excelling academically and demonstrating extreme engagement in his or her community.
Since joining the Florida women’s golf program, Waidner has been hyperactive in the Gainesville community, mostly focusing her attention on healthcare. She became a member of Streetlight, a program that mentors and supports critically ill adolescents, helped to organize a Climb for Cancer event, and works with the Florida Student-Athlete Advisory Committee visiting local schools and packaging shoes for underprivileged children.
Waidner appeared in the Florida lineup three times this season, recording her best finish at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic where she led the Gators with a T16 finish.
