GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida women’s golf team finished tied for second after day one of the 50th VyStar Gators Invitational on Saturday.
UF is tied with defending National Champions Ole Miss at 570 (+10) and trails seven strokes off the lead from last year’s runner-up and No. 2 Oklahoma State (+3).
Maisie Filler led the way with a round one of 69 (-1) for her team-high 12th round under-par of the season. She sits a stroke outside the top-5, tied for sixth.
Right behind Filler in the lineup is Annabell Fuller at T-15. She bounced back after a rough front nine on round two with three consecutive birdies on 12-14 to end 2-under on the back.
Three Gators – Marina Escobar, Jackie Lucena and Clara Manzalini – all are tied for 19th.
Competing as an individual, Jenny Kim was one of three Gator golfers to sink three straight birdies as she also went 1-under in round one and finished even on the day in 5th place.
Florida tees off the final 18 holes tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., beginning on hole one at Mark Bostick Golf Course.
