UF WGOLF | Florida Ranked No. 10, Filler No. 4 ahead of Spring Season

The Gators tee off the spring season on Feb. 4 at Palos Verdes Golf Club.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida women’s golf team will open the spring season ranked No. 10 in the nation, as the NCAA Golf Rankings were announced on Wednesday. Additionally, Maisie Filler was tabbed the No. 4 overall player in the country.

Florida dominated the fall season with three consecutive victories behind back-to-back individual victories from Filler. A combined 25 strokes marked the margin of victory by UF along with 17 individual top-25 finishes. The team victories totaled 31 by head coach Emily Glaser; 32 total as she was an assistant coach for a win in 2011-12 at UF. This is the fifth time under Glaser that Florida has won three events in a season with the last being in 2019-20. It is also the seventh occurrence of multiple victories in a season with Glaser at the helm.

Filler’s fall play earned her a spot on the ANNIKA Award Watch List and a two-time SEC Golfer of the Week recipient. She currently leads the Gators in nearly every statistical category and ranks second in stroke average in the SEC with a 69.67. She is one of two golfers in the SEC (LSU’s Ingrid Lindblad) who has two solo victories this season, which is also tied for second most in Division I. The senior has finished 1-1-T2 in the last three events and under par for three of the four.

The Palm Beach Gardens native, won her first collegiate victory at Tar Heel Invitational and her second at The Ally. Both performances wrote her name into the record books. Filler shot a 54-hole score of 203 (-13), which tied the second-lowest individual tournament score in program history for the second time in her career – one stroke away from the record of LPGA Tour Player Sam Wagner set in 2016. Her opening round of a bogey-free 64 (-8), marked the second-lowest in program history and was two away from the program low of 62 set by Sierra Brooks.

In the final fall outing and second fall win, Filler shot a final round of 66 (-6) for her team-best eighth round under-par this season and fifth out of six career rounds in the 60s at Old Waverly Golf Club. To start 2024, she won the Jones / Doherty Amateur Championship.

Florida will begin the spring season at Therese Hession Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, California from Feb. 4-6.
