Maisie Filler recorded her second career runner-up finish with four Gators finishing in the top-25.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Maisie Filler finished runner-up as the Florida women’s golf team took fourth in the “Mo” Morial Invitational on Wednesday.
Filler’s runner-up performance is the second of her career after she finished runner-up at The Ally last fall behind tying second all-time in program history for low individual tournament at 203 (-13). She did not post a round over par throughout the event and battled back and forth with Kayla Smith (North Carolina) for the individual lead. Filler at one point was 10-under overall and ended 8-under with a score of 208, for eighth-best in program history.
The Gators’ first round score of 281 (-7) set a tournament record as the previous was 282 by Auburn in 2014. UF went 1-under overall, marking one of four teams to shoot under-par. Host Texas A&M won the event shooting 11-under with Texas (-7) in second and North Carolina (-4) in third.
The next two in the lineup posted their second consecutive top-20 finish in Annabell Fuller (T14) and Jackie Lucena (T18). Two strokes from one another Fuller was +1 and Lucena +3.
Freshman Karoline Tuttle (+5) recorded her season-best finish at T25. She tied for fifth in the field with 11 birdies. Taylor Roberts rounded out the lineup tied for 39th and Jenny Kim (individual) in 77th.
UF concludes the fall at the Windy City Classic (Oct. 3-4) and Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 21-23).
