UF WBK: McGill Named to USA U18 National Team

Incoming freshman, Liv McGill has earned the honor of representing the USA in the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup. McGill was named to the roster after recently excelling at the National Team trials in Colorado Springs.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Florida signee, Liv McGill has been selected as one of 12 players to the 2024 USA Basketball Women’s U18 National Team. The 12-member roster, selected from 26 trial participants, will compete at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup from June 17-23 in Bucaramanga, Colombia.

McGill is no stranger to premiere events as she participated in the 2024 McDonald’s All-American Game and the 2024 Jordan Brand Classic Game before solidifying her spot on the U18 roster. The Gator hopeful averaged 14 points, three assists, and two steals per game during her time at Hopkins High School and led her former team to two consecutive state championship appearances.

The team was selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee and will reconvene for training camp in Colorado Springs on June 8.

The 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup features eight teams. Recently, FIBA announced that the U.S. drew Group B with Brazil, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The USA will tip off competition on June 17 vs. Brazil at 4:10 p.m. ET followed by tilts against Puerto Rico and Mexico on June 18 (4:10 p.m. ET) and 19 (1:40 p.m. ET), respectively. The USA women own 11 of 13 gold U18 gold medals and 10 consecutive dating back to 2000. The top four teams will earn a berth to the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup.
