UF WBK: Gators Fall to Florida State in First Road Game of Season

Florida tallies its second loss of the season, falling 98-74 to the Seminoles in Tallahassee.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida women’s basketball fell short in FSU territory Friday evening with a final score of 98-74. The Gators were led on the road by freshman Liv McGill<https://admin.floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/liv-mcgill/16880> with a career high 28 points. McGill has now logged three 20+ point outings in her five games as a Gator.

Two other Gators hit double figures in scoring, Ra Shaya Kyle<https://admin.floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/ra-shaya-kyle/16858> (21), and Alexia Dizeko<https://admin.floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/alexia-dizeko/16856> (10). Despite putting up a fight, Florida was unable to hold the No. 1 scorer in Division I basketball, FSU’s Ta’Niya Latson, finishing the night with 25 points.

IN THE FIRST:

  *   McGill hit double-digits and led the Gators with 12-points
  *   Alexia Dizeko<https://admin.floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/alexia-dizeko/16856> secured Florida’s other four points of the quarter going 2-3 from the field
  *   The Gators and Seminoles were even in scoring three times in the first

  *   Kyle led on the boards with five rebounds-all defensive

  *   Kyle led Florida in scoring with six points

  *   Reynolds recorded two assists to lead Florida in distributions
  *    UF forced four turnovers on the Seminoles-their most of the game

She turned in 14 points in the season opening win versus Florida Atlantic, posted 21 versus Florida A&M on Nov. 7 and 21 once more versus Chicago State on Nov. 12. McGill recently secured 11 versus Miami on Nov. 16, and in her first collegiate road action, McGill scored 28 points.

The last Gator freshman to post double-figures in five consecutive outings was Sha Brooks<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/sha-brooks/647> in the 2005-06 campaign. Brooks opened her Gator career with 14 points on Nov. 18, 2005 in a home win versus St. Francis (N.Y.), followed with 18 points in a road victory at Seton Hall on Nov. 18, 2005, scored 14 in a loss at Florida State Nov. 23, 19 versus Stetson on Nov 27 and 18 at Charlotte on Nov. 30.
