Ceasar tabbed as Overall Player of the Week; McKissock named Defensive Player of the Week; Beason earned Freshman of the Week honors
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After topping the 22nd-ranked Tennessee Lady Volunteers last Thursday, three Gators earned SEC Weekly honors, as the conference announced Monday.
T’ara Ceasar was tabbed as SEC Offensive Player of the Week, as well as SEC Overall Player of the Week, while Elli McKissock was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance. Finally, Merritt Beason earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Against Tennessee, Ceasar averaged 7.88 points per set, 6.25 kills per set, 1.75 digs per set and 1.25 service aces per set to go along with a .352 clip.
The Panama City, Fla. native recorded a career-high 31.5 points in the win, which was the highest total for a four-set match during the rally-scoring era. Ceasar also tied her career-high with five service aces in the match, along with a season-high 25 kills per set in the victory.
McKissock averaged 6.50 digs per set and 2.25 assists per set against the Lady Vols.
The sophomore libero tallied 26 digs in the four-setter to lead the backcourt, averaging over 2.00 digs per set more than her season total. She also recorded a season-high nine assists in the victory, helping lead the team to a .298 clip.
Beason averaged 2.25 kills per set, 2.75 digs per set and 1.00 blocks per set in the victory against Tennessee.
The Gardendale, Ala. native posted a career-high 11 digs in the four-setter, as well as nine kills – just one kill off of her first double-double of the year. She sat second on the team in blocks, posting four in the win.
Ceasar, McKissock, Beason and the rest of the Gators are back in action for a two-match series against the Arkansas Razorbacks beginning on Nov. 12.
