The senior setter was tabbed as the overall player and setter of the week after averaging 12.12 assists per set
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After splitting the week against two AVCA Top-25 programs, Marlie Monserez was named both SEC Setter of the Week and SEC Overall Player of the Week, as the conference announced Monday.
Over the course of the two matches against No. 20 Stanford and No. 10 Minnesota, Monserez averaged 12.12 assists per set, 4.38 digs per set and led the team to a .278 clip.
Against Stanford, she recorded 41 assists and 21 digs for her first double-double of the year. The 21 digs were just one off tying her career-high mark that she set a season ago.
The Windermere, Fla. native also recorded four blocks and three kills against the Cardinal.
In the win over No. 10 Minnesota, Monserez recorded 56 assists, while leading the team to a .306 clip in the four-setter. She recorded 14 digs to pick up her second double-double on the season and also notched two kills in the victory.
Against the Golden Gophers, Monserez moved into the Top-10 in program history for career assists, surpassing Kelly Murphy’s 2,671. The senior currently sits at 2.691 assists, just 37 away from claiming the No. 9 spot.
Monserez and the rest of the Gators return to action on Friday for a two-match series with No. 17 Baylor. First serve for Friday’s match is slated for 8 p.m. on the SEC Network, while Saturday’s match will begin at 7 p.m. on SEC Network +.
