The volleyball program concludes the 2023-24 academic year with 15 SEC academic accolades.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Madi Gravlee and Kennedy Muff were named to the 2023-24 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll by league commissioner Greg Sankey. The duo is just two of four student-athletes who earned a 4.0 grade point average in their first year at UF.
Back in February, all 13 Gators eligible to be part of the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll appeared on the 2023 list. The 13 honorees set a new program high, surpassing 11 that was set in 2017.<https://floridagators.com/news/2024/2/1/volleyball-13-gators-named-to-2023-sec-fall-academic-honor-roll.aspx>
Gravlee, a sophomore from Vero Beach, Fla., saw action in 14 matches and 26 sets during her rookie season. She posted her first collegiate kill against Tennessee on Nov. 3, hitting a career-high .333.
During the 2023 season, Muff stepped into the role as starting setter against Auburn on Sept. 22. Just one of four non-division I transfers on a top-25 team, the Kenosha, Wis. native finished the year with 851 assists, 161 digs, 75.5 points, 40 kills, 32.0 blocks and 19 service aces.
Muff received a certificate in Social Media from Florida in December of 2023. She completed her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Flagler University in May of 2023. The graduate student earned several academic accolades at Flagler University:
* Two-time CoSIDA (CSC) Academic All-District
* Three-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar
* Three-time D2 ADA Award Recipient
* Fall 2021 PBC Elite 16 Award (Highest Cumulative GPA in the Conference)
* Graduated in Flagler College Honors Program (Offered to Top 5% of Class Only)
Today’s announcement sets Florida’s record at 433 for total of student-athletes named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in a single season. The record has been reset twice since 2020-21 (378 in 2020-21 and 2021-22 and 410 for 2022-23 academic year). Florida placed 312 on SEC Academic Honor Rolls (137 on fall list; 64 winter, 111 on spring) and 121 on the First-Year Honor Roll.
Grades from the 2023-24 academic year determine the 2024 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. To be recognized to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
