UF VB | Gators Ranked No. 15 in AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll

Florida debuts in the top-15 of the poll for the 31st consecutive year

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida will open the 2022 campaign ranked 15th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Division I Top-25 poll, as announced on Monday.

With the No. 15 spot, the Gators run their streak to 31 consecutive years of ranking in the top-15 of the AVCA preseason poll – the third-longest streak in the nation (Nebraska, Stanford – only Nebraska’s is still currently active).

Florida’s streak dates back to 1992, when the squad began the year ranked No. 12.

During the 2021 season, UF went 22-9 overall and 14-4 in the Southeastern Conference. The team made its 32nd NCAA Tournament appearance, including its 31st consecutive trip, finishing the season with its 18th Regional Final appearance.

To start the 2022 campaign, Florida opens with the Gators Invitational, facing off against North Florida on Aug. 26 and both East Tennessee State University and Virginia on Aug. 27.

UF is set to face four ranked opponents during the 2022 season, including three opponents in the Top-12: No. 3 Wisconsin, No. 5 Minnesota and No. 11 Kentucky.
