Two All-Americans are slated for their first performances of 2025, while six athletes prepare for their first crack at NCAA competition.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators Track and Field will travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in the FSU Relays on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28. The meet is the first of the Outdoor Track and Field campaign for the Gators.
The men’s program begins their title defense with the start of the outdoor slate, having won the NCAA Team Championship each of the last three outdoor seasons. On the women’s side, the Gators will look to improve on their second-place finish from the 2024 season, in pursuit of their first NCAA team title since 2022.
The Athletes
The FSU Relays are set to feature two notable returns to action for the Gators. Three-time SEC Champion and seven-time USTFCCCA First-Team All-American Alida van Daalen is tabbed to compete in both the Shot Put and Discus events at FSU Relays, marking her first entries of the 2025 season. Her 2024 campaign featured an SEC title in the Discus, as well as third-place and sixth-place finishes in the Discus and Shot Put at the NCAA Outdoor meet.
The Gators will also regain the services of Reheem Hayles, who was thrice named a USTFCCCA First-Team All-American a year ago. His seventh-place finish in the 400m and lead leg of the Gators’ third-place effort in the 4x400m relay at last season’s NCAA Outdoor Championships lofted the Orange and Blue to their team title. He will compete in the 4x400m relay at FSU Relays.
Six athletes – Aidan Broussard (Javelin), Leikel Cabrera Gay (Javelin), Habibba Harris (100m H), Elaina Perkins (Javelin), Shakynah Tresvant (400m) and Evelyn van Zwieten (Javelin) – will make their NCAA debuts in Tallahassee. Justin Braun (4x400m Relay), Markevus Jackson (200m, 4x400m Relay) and Toby Makoyawo (100m) will don the Orange and Blue for the first time in their collegiate careers.
