Final Stop in Fayetteville: SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships
The No. 6/2 Gators Track & Field teams will travel to Arkansas for the third time this year as they begin the 2024 Indoor Track & Field postseason.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators Track and Field teams begin the 2024 indoor postseason where they spent the majority of the regular season: Fayetteville, Ark. After competing in the Razorback and Tyson Invitational, the teams return to Randal Tyson Track Center for the SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gators’ most recent appearances on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10 at the Tyson Invitational and David Hemery Valentine Invitational were headlined by two school records and multiple other UF All-Time Top 10 finishes. Both Flomena Asekol and Parvej Khan set new school records in the mile while competing in Boston, Mass. Asekol’s time of 4:26.47 broke a record that stood for 14 years, stands as the second-best time in the NCAA in 2024 and is the fourth best mark in NCAA history. Khan’s time of 3:56.64 stood as both the school and Indian national record for one week until he topped this time with a 3:55.41 finish at the Terrier DMR Challenge. Khan’s performance snapped a 13-year-old school record. Other Gators that tallied All-Time Top 10 marks include Malcolm Clemons, Will Gross IV, Amelia Mazza-Downie, Miguel Pantojas, Elise Thorner and the Men’s 4x400m team (Reheem Hayles, Ashton Schwartzman, Jenoah McKiver, Jevaughn Powell).
