The Netherlands native takes home both a silver and bronze medal among tough competition.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After winning gold in both the shot put and discus throw at U23 European Championships just two weeks ago, Alida van Daalen returned to competition this weekend as she participated in Dutch Nationals in Breda, Netherlands.
The rising sophomore and Netherlands native first participated on Friday as she tackled the women’s shot put. Van Daalen recorded a mark of 18.11m (59’5″) earning herself a third-place finish.
She continued Saturday by taking part in the women’s discus throw. Despite her best toss of 59.93m (196’8″) falling just one inch short of her personal best, it still landed her on the podium as she took home the silver medal.
The two added medals bring van Daalen’s total during the month of July to four, and improves on the successful summer the Gators have had in individual competition.
