Florida sets sights on NCAA Championships next month
ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 5/6 Florida men’s and women’s swimming team locked in seven more B-cuts during the final regular season competition today at the Bulldog Last Chance Invite.
Men’s 400 IM
Peter Bretzmann clocked a 3:45.45 during the evening finals, earning a second place finish and a B-cut time.
Men’s 100 Free
Edouard Fullum-Huot finished first in both the prelims and finals, swimming an event-best 42.42 during the morning session. Chance Tirheimer secured a B-cut time of 43.14 during the prelims.
Dawson Joyce went 43.94 in the evening session for 10th overall.
Women’s 200 Fly
Allie Piccirillo improved her time from the prelims to finals, touching the wall in a B-cut time of 1:56.70 for the top spot in the finals.
Men’s 200 Fly
Improving from the morning to evening, Billy Jones swam a 1:43.69
Men’s 200 Breast
Amro Al-Wir swam the top time of the day, clocking a 1:52.33 in the prelims. Raphael Rached Windmuller used a 1:54.10 time in the finals to win the event. Both Gators earned B-cut times.
Men’s 100 Back
Cameron Abaqueta shaved .40 seconds off his time today, swimming a B-cut time of 47.04 for fourth.
Overall, the men’s team finished with 309 points, the most in the meet, while the women, who only had two athletes competing, finished sixth with 53 points.
Florida will turn its attention to the NCAA Championships starting next month.
